Background :

Martha Stewart has joined the founding team of AI startup Hint, a home management app that uses artificial intelligence to help homeowners manage maintenance, documents and household tasks. The iOS app launched this month and is available free without subscriptions or advertisements.

Hint helps users create a digital profile of their home by combining public property records with information such as weather, soil and utility data. Homeowners can also upload documents, including inspection reports, insurance policies, warranties, invoices and contracts. The app’s built-in AI assistant answers questions based on this information and guides home maintenance and management.

Users can upload photos of household appliances, allowing the app to offer maintenance tips, reminders and troubleshooting advice. Hint also creates a personalised maintenance schedule, sends alerts for routine tasks and provides a “home score” that measures how well a property is being maintained.

Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Kyle Rush said Stewart plays an active role in developing the app, contributing to product design, branding, language and technical feedback. He said her experience in home management has helped improve the app’s recommendations and overall user experience.

The startup began as a platform focused on home decarbonisation incentives before expanding into broader home management services. Hint also offers guidance on issues such as insurance claims, air quality, flood risks and energy use.

The company plans to keep its core AI features free while introducing premium tools in the future for advanced users, such as managing multiple properties. Hint generates affiliate revenue through service providers but said its AI recommendations remain independent. The startup has raised $10 million from investors to support its growth.
