Meta rolled out Muse Code, a new artificial intelligence coding agent, made to help developers juggle complicated software engineering tasks. The tool is currently available in beta and is part of the company’s efforts to strengthen its position in the AI market.
Meta Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg said Muse Code can complete major software engineering tasks, including planning code changes, writing code and validating results. The tool can be installed with a single command and is powered by Meta’s existing coding model, Muse Spark.
To manage large software projects, Muse Code automatically creates multiple AI agents that work in parallel on different parts of the code. Each agent operates in a separate work area, allowing several features to be developed at the same time without affecting the user’s original code or creating conflicts between tasks.
Meta said this approach improves efficiency for developers working on large and complex software projects. During internal testing, the company used the tool to build six different game features simultaneously without any collisions.
The release is part of the overall plan that Meta is implementing to be able to keep up with the AI coding software available from other firms like OpenAI and Anthropic. The company thinks that with Muse Code, it will have a cheaper solution for AI-powered software development.
Alexandr Wang, who leads Meta Superintelligence Labs, said the company expects Muse Code to be useful across a wide range of software development workflows while offering competitive pricing.
Meta has been increasing its investment in artificial intelligence in recent months. In June, the company expanded beyond AI tools for advertising by entering the enterprise AI market with an AI agent designed for customer service and support.
