In the latest edition titled “The Most Pioneering Women Leaders in Nursing 2024”, Chief Women Leaders celebrates the journey of Bonnie Fryzlewicz, the Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer of Seattle Children’s Hospital.

She is a dedicated leader who focuses on improving patient care and nursing leadership, while building strong relationships and guiding new leaders. She promotes flexibility in the evolving healthcare industry and combines her strategic outlook with practical engagement. Owing to these diverse abilities, she is considered as a renowned leader in nursing practice.

Throughout her rich career of being a nurse to becoming Senior Vice President (SVP) and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), Bonnie has served the patients in various positions. She has always believed in providing her very best to the patients in need.

Chief Women Leaders recognizes Bonnie for her unwavering dedication, her compassion, innovation, and strategy to shape the future of healthcare. She is driven by the objective of ensuring that the nursing staff delivers exceptional care without fail. For her, strategic planning and workforce development remains a top priority. She remains closely connected with the staff and patients.

Chief Women Leaders applauds Bonnie’s forward-thinking leadership and her dedicated endeavors to ensure that Seattle Children’s keeps evolving and continues to deliver world class healthcare services to the upcoming generations.

Bonnie supports diversity and inclusion. She ensures that the health equity and anti-racism are included in the hospital’s nursing strategic plan with the help of data to bring the historically marginalized groups together. Her plan succeeded after the elimination of disparities in central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) for Black and African American patients. Another success is the currently active efforts of targeting patients who speak languages other than English.

Bonnie is not only a leader when it comes to operations. She is also passionate about strengthening relationships and guiding others. She believes that nurses can be empowered if they are assisted in developing their strengths, pursuing opportunities, and, being innovative.

Currently a fellow in the Johnson & Johnson Nurse Innovation Fellowship, Bonnie is honing her skills which she intends to implement in ushering meaningful change in nursing practice.

Being an advocate for constant learning, Bonnie works with many local and national-level CNOs. She is also a part of boards such as the Northwest Organization for Nurse Leaders.

Bonnie’s objective is to ensure that Seattle Children’s always stays at the top of pediatric nursing. Accordingly, she always remains active in shaping policy and best practices.

In the times to come, Bonnie intends to concentrate on the evolving dynamics of the nursing workforce. She is preparing to reshape care delivery models and develop staffing solutions which are sustainable and flexible.
