Popular Digital Healthcare magazine Insights Care is pleased to feature Vista Centre Brain Injury Services which is spearheaded by Denis Boileau, the Executive Director, whose leadership is characterized by a commitment to collaboration and client-focused care. With him at the helm, VCBIS has evolved into a model of excellence in brain injury service provision. From their committed Board of Directors to their continuing support services, there isn’t one area in VCBIS operations that is not impacted by an eagerness to empower lives.

VCBIS works in collaboration with individuals with Acquired Brain Injury, supporting them, serving, and educating at the community level to help them achieve their highest level of life. VCBIS believes in the potential of the individual to grow and contribute to society. VCBIS gives the participants a chance to move forward towards their highest potential in emotional, social, vocational, educational, cognitive, spiritual, and financial. VCBIS enhances dignity and confidence.
The Board is the governing body to the different stakeholders and has the responsibility to decide on the direction and purpose of the organization, in a bid to align with our vision and mission.
In the period of Covid-19, as home visits were not possible at that time, the organization didn’t hesitate to embrace offering virtual services. This was not easy for clients and employees, but with hard work and flexibility, virtual services earned up to doubled, and the new normal functioned as a substitute in a better way.
Another such commendable initiative taken by VCBIS is that of a transition program that ensures a seamless hospital-to-community transition. Initiated five years ago, this innovative care model is based on cooperation between hospital counselors and community health agency staff. Ensuring smooth transition and coordinated planning for health, a program like this ensures proper delivery of care from the very start and hastens the client’s transition to the community. Its end objective is not just improved care to the client, but also significant cost savings to the healthcare system.
Additionally, VCBIS’s educational initiatives about brain injury are most definitely experienced at its Brain Injury Awareness Day, celebrated each year every June. Its educational conference gathers members of the community, patients, caregivers, and medical organizations into one-day of guest presentation, patient presentations, research presentation, and policy discussion. Historically a face-to-face conference with more than 200 people, the conference is now online and also a byproduct of what is happening in the world today, reaching even further. Also, the organization’s accessibility is also confirmed through the provision of free entry for a person with a brain injury or caregiver as a byproduct of sponsorships secured for the conference.
