Background

Accessibility advocate Dr Shani Dhanda has joined The Business of Events as a partner and taken up membership of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Events, bringing her work on inclusive practice into the heart of industry policy discussions.

Dr Dhanda’s appointment follows her collaboration with The Business of Events and ICC Wales on the Access All Areas: Closing the Accessibility Gap initiative, which looked at practical ways to raise accessibility standards across the events sector. She works with organisations across industries to embed inclusive practice and improve the experiences of disabled people at events.

A global speaker and broadcaster, Dr Dhanda has shared platforms with Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton. In 2025, she co-founded the Accessible Events Show, a dedicated platform that brings together event professionals, venues, suppliers, accessibility specialists and disabled people to drive real change in how events are designed and delivered.

Through her new roles, Dr Dhanda will feed into policy conversations and support the development of more inclusive practices across the events industry. She will also speak at The Business of Events Policy Forum in July, where she will present findings from the Access All Areas initiative alongside ICC Wales.

A spokesperson from The Business of Events said Dr Dhanda’s work on the Access All Areas campaign had highlighted both progress made and the opportunities that still exist to improve accessibility across the industry, adding that her insight and experience would help inform ongoing policy and sector discussions.

Dr Dhanda said the initiative had reinforced the value of practical, industry-led action. “I look forward to contributing to discussions that help make the events industry more inclusive for all,” she said.
